a day off!
Staying at home is what I do pretty much all the time. "I don't get out much" is totally factual for me at this season of my life. It's winter, and that means wind. And at the moment I am enjoying lots of babies in my dayhome. So not lots of going outside.
And that's ok. Home is great.
We are blessed to have comfortable homes, and I'm not knocking it.
But it's a stat holiday and I was hoping to go spend the day in a picnic shelter on the shore of Waterton Lake, with a fire burning in the huge stone fireplace and snuggled into a reclining lawn chair under a wool blanket... Maybe taking a brave stroll through the gale-force wind along the edge of the lake if I felt adventurous. Or maybe just venturing as far as the simmering hot chocolate pot on the nearest wood stove. But alas, this was not to be.
So at my supportive husband's encouragement, I am taking the day off, here at home. Trickier than it sounds. Although he is doing the laundry, I hear the little beeping song the washer and dryer make, and I am like Pavlov's dog; ready to shift and fold clothes. But I abstain today. Except for once when I couldn't entirely resist and I set the washer on an extra spin cycle, but I don't think that really counts because technically I didn't touch any laundry.
It takes real will-power, but I am striving to live up to my family's wishes and not engage in 'housework' today. This lets them off the hook to relax and enjoy their home day as well, of course!
And why shouldn't we?
So far I've read scriptures (the Book of Mormon, fairly extensively, in bed. Luxury ;)
and sorted papers and things in my desk, which eventually brought about the intended result of me finding my old journal from when Kirby and I became engaged. Aww!
Then I did a great beginners core yoga workout on that website (DoYogaWithMe) and now... I am writing my blog.
While I realize that if I were a truly committed blogger or any kind of writer, I would MAKE time for this pleasure no matter how busy I am- I am pretty undisciplined. Still, that's no reason to quit altogether. A little is better than none. For me at least!
