Sara
I have three amazing younger sisters. Let me tell you a bit about why I am so grateful for the first of these gems... Sara Jean came into my life a few months before my 2nd birthday, so I have no memory of not having her. I do remember playing together when we were little- a lot! Mostly I remember playing outside. Miraculously, we survived our childhood in spite of some of the crazy things we did. We don't need to go into that here... ;) One of my favourite early memories playing with Sara was in the field on the farm at the coast; we pressed down the high and thick green grass and made little 'houses' for ourselves, and pressed down little passages we travelled when we went to visit each other in our grass houses. Now when I see a bed of pressed-down grass up in the hills here where some deer slept the night before, I know just how it feels to create and feel snug in such a place as that.
But what I want to talk about really is what an incredible person Sara is now! She amazes me with her energy and open, hardworking approach to life. Including, and especially the playful part of life! She is super fun and always has a lot on the go, from home renos, to playing and teaching piano, to creating wood art gifts and building her home business, to helping so many people in so many ways, to keeping fit and looking great, to taking trips and learning new skills, and then there's the magical way she looks after her big and busy family! Lots of love and piles of faith and fun! She gardens and cooks and decorates, and the thing that amazes me most about her is that she's still ready to take on the next project or challenge- nothing seems too hard for her! She inspires me, and motivates me, and it makes me tired just thinking about her life and how she does it all, but she's almost always happy! It's her gift. One of many.
I literally WONDER at her 'can-do' approach to life, and I see in my sweet little sister what life looks like with boldness and love in place of fear.
The thing that boggles my mind the most about Sara is that I know for sure - we are closely related!
So maybe I can do more, and be more than I am... just like my hero and dear friend.
I thank Heaven for blessing me with such a strong and beautiful girl for my sister. I can't imagine this world- or my life without her. She brings the flowers wherever she goes...
