a new year to come...

"The crowning characteristic of love is always loyalty." I recently reread this intriguing line in a beautiful book my dear husband gave to me for Christmas. It sets a high standard for me. It's too easy sometimes to take for granted the ones I love; to forget to cherish the hearts I have been given in trust. Like Anne Shirley, I am grateful for each new day I get to start fresh, with no mistakes in it yet! And even more so tonight, I appreciate the clean slate of a whole new year, in which I will lay aside old habits of selfish pride and adopt in their place the joy of a heart warm with peace, and truer love. Thank Heaven for next year!

weekends.

Aahhh, the gorgeousness of a Friday evening! I love my work. And I love it when I'm done for the week, and I can just be quiet, or be still, or put myself together and go out for the evening. Or whatever else I want to do. Or need to do. I'm just enjoying the delicious feeling of the weekend. And it hits right away; I don't have any commute home after my job- I simply say goodbye to the last of my little people to leave, and softly close the door. This beautiful feeling is compounded by it being summertime (easily my favourite season for many good reasons). For one thing, the sun is still high in the sky and will be for a while. It's a good time for a leisurely ride on my shiny red bicycle. And then there's the sweet sensation of an un-busy evening. This is rare- extremely rare during the school year- and believe me, I appreciate it! Unscheduled time to unwind at my own pace. Now that's what I call 're-creation' (of my personal energy!!) Thank Heaven ...
